Ours is an interdependent world. Since we cannot release ourselves from dependence on others. It is just as well to make the most of the situations and carry out our role in interdependent comity of nations in such a manner that all the nations involved gain from it. This role can be performed much more effectively if regional countries establish a sound understanding of each other - an appreciation which can only come with knowledge in the mind of one about the needs and compulsions of the other. Such knowledge is vital. The Institute is meant to acquire and disseminate that knowledge.

We will strive to acquire knowledge to benefit the people of Pakistan by leading them to better understanding of the affairs and problems of the neighboring peoples, which can have a bearing on our own way of life. It is possible that by better knowledge we avoid the obstacles in the path of understanding and discover ways of getting closer to our neighbors.
